[3:22] Fawkes Allen: I will kiss the first person to make a decent Windlight setting for builders

You heard it here first. Get working on that.

In the meantime, we'll be making new product announcements for the store, along with story details for the larger/stranger items, over on AUTOGENICA! Yay, we have a store blog!

Anyone who retails through us, I'm thinking, will have the option of posting access, if desired. So far that's only two additionals, but as neither's strictly confirmed, can't announce it.

I'm back to building dresses; I think I have a few good new ideas, but alas, so little period. I think I'm skating them in Penzance under the heading of 'costumerie', which is not precisely accurate. Still.

And life goes on. Now, y'all pardon me, I have to go pay rent.

windlight is cool, but have you heard if they're going to roll out Havok 4 yet or not. It was up on the test grid. (?)

Thanks in advance.

Havok 4 is still running on the beta grid, if you want to check it out. How close to roll out it is, do not know. Not knowing, cannot say.

But it is further than any Havok implementation has been. Note that the goal is not new features at this time, just more stability, so you probably won't see much advantage at first, other than hopefully reduced crashing and more responsiveness.

I may well lose geek points for this, but I don't understand the Havok 4 hysteria. Other than all my programmer friends go bats just thinking of the possibility.

I take it it's beyond software, it's some different hardware, or different operating system for servers, or something?

I don't fully understand the difference either. What I've basically gotten is a better physics engine and more stability. Later on, look for larger (more prim) vehicles and other improvements. But the goal right now is to just replace the core but make it run like the old one with a goal of more stability. Then again, I could be wrong. Haven't been tracking things as much recently. Spending more time investigating alternatives to SL.... (not that I've come up with much...yet)

There really isn't anything. I think most of us are in the position of knowing Second Life is limping along...but as the alternatives remove any possibility of walking upright...we're sort of stuck.

Hank: "it's one of the most realistic and fastest performing physics engines out there."

That also means it's SUBSTANTIALLY less ancient than Havoc-1, which what we're all currently getting smacked by the bugs from. :)

A-ha, that tells me something.

This tells me more.

*handwaving at the technical discussion outside my area* Yes, very nice, still taking hammer and tongs to it myself.

What caught my attention is the mention of your designs! You can still market them as "fancy dress couture” pieces, yes? I look forward to seeing your work.

Ah, no, costume at best. The magenta number in the picture shown at the top of this entry? Is the latest...whatever--a ruffled-satin long skirt with an attached black lace overskirt, a bolero-length sheer lace jacket over a magenta satin bodice, the jacket fastening in front with an onyx and brass button. Glitch pants, of course, and self stockings, as with most of my pieces--if the legs have to come out with whomever's AO, at least they can blend in.

But it's not Victorian, as such, so I can only market them, at best, as costume pieces.

Or, as I mentioned to Lord Bardhaven--"Native Mainland Costume", which may be my next term. :)

It's beautiful. /me lusts

And I love that term!

Hee!

Well, I have to fix the skirt, the overskirting is a little troublesome on the layers, and it's at 49 prims as it is--it could well go up to 60 on the revised!

But I thank you kindly.

hide away, they say, 'cos we don't want your broken parts

Yeah, so...remember that thing I was recovering from? You know, last year ? Yeah. I did it again. So this is Em Faw Down Go Boom part ...
