Picking up from part one, the next five tones!



This is the rich, cobalt blue linen, shown again with the light rope adornments.



This is the sage linen, and at least in this pose, it doesn't clip obviously when sitting. Shown with the black rope armlets and collar.



If anyone ever wanted a true, Tyrian purple linen camisk, Mara is definitely your girl. Shown with the black rope options.



I know some are going to roll their eyes, but this is honestly a taupe linen...but sure, if we want to, we can name it tan. It's just got a touch too much grey to be a true tan. Shown with the brown rope option.



And finally, the standard worn brown linen, staple of every shivering servant girl, with the light rope adornments.

I have no idea what these are going to be priced at, or which are only fatpack-specific: I'm showing off all the tones I received just to be on the safe side. Three tones of rope: the light rope, the brown, and the black (and again, I'll verify whether or not the rope belt is supposed to also change), and....it's now occurred to me I'm an idiot, and I'll explain, but ten different linen colors for the camisk.

Okay, the idiot part! I completely bypassed the inset HUD-within-a-HUD for the camisk colors! So YES the rope belt can be changed; but it changes with the little circle HUD inside the ring of colors! The collar and armlets, on the other hand, have a separate HUD to change them, so the rope belt can be one tone, the rope armlets can be another (or, if one wanted to take a bit of time, one could make the rope collar black, say, then remove it, put on the armlets and make them the light tone, then change the belt to brown.

Silly. I should have picked that up. Miss sachi is smarter than I am.

Mara is sized for Maitreya Lara, Maitreya Lara Petite, Legacy, Legacy Perky and Legacy Petite, and Slink, Slink Hourglass and Slink Hourglass Petite.

I love this woman. She is part of my tribe. It sounds exactly like something I'd come up with. (There is some NSFW language there, though, be aware.)

And did you know Moulin Rouge's elephant was not just a Hollywood invention? I knew, but I did not know about the back garden.

Anyway. For once, I had the time to cover something early, and I'm not about to pass this up.



We're starting with the outfit as it came out of the box, no edits: the Mara camisk in black linen, with light-toned rope belt, armlets and collar. Observers will likely catch the gold chain of the underwear I'm wearing; I don't intend to take them off, but they're not included in the outfit.



It also comes in white linen (again shown with the light-toned rope adornments).



I'm not sure how period dark pink linen is? I'd think it's a hard tone to achieve medievally, but if it's seen in Gor, probably, because Gor's always had that weird pure-primitive/high-tech mix. Shown in the brown rope tone.



Depending on the lighting, this tone is either a shaded maroon linen, or almost a russet, but I'm just going to call it wine and go from there. Everything I'm wearing, by the way, has not been adjusted for the shots, so as you'll notice on my right arm, there will be poses the rope armlets, at least, will clip a bit. Standard hazard with any animation set.



It wasn't until the red linen that I realized the rope color HUD only changes the collar and the armlets, not the belt. I'm not sure if this is intentional, I'll ask and update.

H&K Swimwear for the WIP event

More Adam 'n Eve goodness today!

The WIP event opens tomorrow! So it's a good time to tell you about these swimsuits.



Miss sachi put out a set of very nice swimsuits for the event. There are six color tones total, this is the black and white--black top, white bottoms (the suit is a maillot-style one-piece).



Going around the HUD widdershins, this is what I've been calling the Christmas suit--deep red top, bright green bottom. I believe the chain detail on both this one, and the one above, are in Rose Gold, more because I forgot to tap for different metals than any particular theming choice. (Not the very minimal clipping across one hip; otherwise I had no difficulties staying 'in the suit'.)



This is the understated, but quite lovely white/grey combo. I chose the top Silver metal option (there are two, for some reason, north and south on the metals HUD.)



I won't lie, so far this is my favorite of the set. Deep, deep scarlet paired with solid black. It's stunning. I'm showing the...black? Iron? Pewter? tone for the chain detail.



This is the pink/yellow variant. I'm not sure which shot will end up for this one, but most of them, the chain detail isn't that visible. But I promise, it's the Gold tone from the metal HUD.



Next to last, we have the pink/black combo, which also looks pretty damn nifty, and I'm not usually a heavy pink person. The chain detail is in the second of the two Silver-y tones (it's the one closest to the Black on the HUD, if that matters).



And onto the last color combo, the royal blue/deep orange. I'm showing the back of the suit, followed by the front (front will be standing). There is the teeniest bit of clipping showing on the back--I'm dead serious, pulling my shape into edit and decreasing the waist by one point would fix that. It's so close to perfect.

And, as always, keep in mind that while I wear Maitreya, I have pretty much pushed it to its limits here--I don't think anyone else with a Maitreya body will have any trouble clipping through anywhere.



And this is it from the front. All in all, a really lovely suit, multi-functional, very summery, works well in a lot of poses. She's sized it for Maitreya, Slink Hourglass, and Slink original bodies. This is the SLUrl you want to take if you just want to get to [ae]'s booth; each color combo is priced at L$225 each, with the fatpack (what I've shown off here) going for L$800. Not too shabby. (The shoes aren't included, they just seemed to go with this suit; they're from Mosquito's Way, but for the life of me, I can't remember if the 'Summer' shoes were a group gift, or just a buyable set.)

Again, while I'm anonymizing the names, this is clearly from Meli Imako's group, because hers is the group of designers that have never in the past, do not now in the present, and likely WILL never in the future offer demos for their mesh templates. No, I don't know why. Yes, I think it's silly. No, I don't think they're going to change their minds after six-plus years of demo-less operations.

But I found this interesting:

True. You have to really understand what you're looking for, though. Like, for those, I'd probably be searching terms like "goth boots", "biker boots", "tall buckled boots" or "black leather flat heel boots"...and that's a lot of terrain to cover in the attempt to narrow down.

This is another thing. They may not offer demos, which I am not in favor of, but the designers are pretty clear as to what bodies it's rigged for, or if it's just standard mesh sizes, if it is rigged or unrigged, if it can be resized, before anyone buys it. And if anyone still has questions beyond that, sending a notecard to a group mod or to a designer generally clears things up. I've done that.

It's an option. Meli has a lot of sales, still offers group gifts on the Marketplace, now that the in-world store has shuttered, so it's worth it to belong to the group to get a heads-up on when these things happen.

Yes, this is one of two special events we're planning (the other being October 24th, a fancy masquerade held outside by Bellefleurs' reflecting pool), and this one is going to be a lot of fun. Two events, actually, so we can be sure to hit everyone who wants to come. Very formal, as befits such an august achievement, so tuxedos or nicely tailored morning suits for men, floor-length dresses for women (with or without gloves, entirely the patron's choice). We are hoping for a monochromatic palette for DJ EllieMae McGinnis to play against, so think shades of black and very dark grey, shades of white and silver, and we do hope we'll see you there!

I preface this by saying this comes from the group chat of a fairly well-known maker of mesh on the grid, and also, that I wasn't there for the original contretemps. I wish I had been, but I present the aftermath, because there are some tips within it I want to preserve.

The moderators in this group have a lot of powers, but where ejection is involved, they talk to the group owners first. I actually respect that a bit more, as I still can't get back into one particular Maitreya group because of one moderator who lost her mind, and the owners just let her. It at least feels more fair on the surface to know the decision came from the highest levels.

To be fair, I've done that too. And there is a bit of reason behind that, because I've had people IM me back and say that email told them they were given a notecard, but they can't find it. So I send it again.

There's that, too. Especially with mesh, if someone wants a template rigged for a certain body, and the maker doesn't have the dev kit for that body? There's not much they can do. Many get around that by expanding the fitmesh options and listing them as "(Body) Experimental". And sometimes that works pretty well. But just complaining "You didn't make this product for X body!" will get people nowhere.

Of course not, but trial and error will help to figure out which templates will work within our body's alpha cuts, and which will not. It just takes time...and half a brain.

That's just not POSSIBLE.

For the record, she wasn't the only one who skipped that step. Bauhaus Movement on Noirette, Mister Razzor on Noirette, Lode on Noirette, Tukinowaguma on Noirette, Dahlia on Redhead, I believe Volthair on Redhead, Cranked on Redhead, Avada on Blonde, Throned on Blonde, DP Yumyum on Blonde, and quite possibly Revoul on Redhead all managed to miss that, too. Maybe next year.

Pursuant to yesterday's discussion, before I wander and talk to random individuals, I ran some simple searches through Marketplace.

Eli Rae's seems only to have one T-shirt, "Niramyth" (rigged for the Niramyth body line, obv), and they come in variations for L$50 to L$75 each: Brown with green/brown/black Celtic dragon knotwork, basic faded orange, a weathered light blue, basic dark green, dark blue, a faded gold, ragged pale brown, standard dark brown, a kind of out-of-place bright green, standard red, tattered aged white, serviceable grey, and everyday black. Oh, and there's a demo.

Todeswalzer Designs seems to have a LOT of male Gorean and adaptive medieval outfits, but...they're all for standard mesh sizes. So try demos before purchase!

Tigereye Designs, of course, showed up, and most of their male outfits seem to be a combination of Omega appliers (suitable for any mesh body that is rigged to accept Omega) and mesh pieces that may or may not be rigged (and thus adjustable). Like this one, it's Omega base layers and then five, it looks like, mesh (or sculpted, hard to tell) bits to pair with the layers. (That outfit's L$450, btw, so for those "non-self-respecting" men, it's pricey.)

Kanibal has (relatively few) male designs, but they're also only in standard mesh sizes, so demo, demo, demo.

Kahli Designs has a lot of male designs, but they're even more restrictive, doing three standard mesh sizes.

!Damned is...very odd. Like, let's look at their mesh brown cloak. All it says is 'mesh'--no listing of what bodies it's good for, or what sizes said 'mesh' comes in to wear. So demo (of course).

Treasures of the Desert is the first store that actually listed male bodies for their outfits. To wit, the Kemal White Gold set for example: the description says it's rigged for Aesthetic, TMP, Signature Gianni + Geralt, Belleza Jake, and the Slink Male Body. I'd still recommend demos, but this is the first store I'd heartily recommend to anyone flailing for male fashion.

The Golden Lily has a pretty narrow focus for menswear--fur--but they seem to be in an acceptable range of mesh body sizes. This one, for instance, is sized for system avatars, as well as Signature, Onupup, Jake, Gamit, Adin, four standard fitmesh sizes and Aesthetic.

And honestly, the longest time this search took was in tracking down the links, the prices, and searching down the Aesthetic store on the Marketplace to link to the Niramyth t-shirts seen above.

I'd say, unless the issue is a Gorean man has bought everything that caught his eye, Gorean men--or, at least, that one specific whining Gorean man--just aren't trying. So deal with what you have and stop bitching, dude, or make your own. It's not hard.

Isn't the whole point of a hoodie to keep all of your upper body warm? I feel this largely fails in that goal. But I guess if only the arms are getting cold...Anyway, it's free, at least for now.

So, I meant to get to this before now, but it's still the 10th, and the next Enchantment event doesn't open until the 12th, so...there's still a little time. Miss sachi Vixen, [adam & eve]'s designer, sent me a pack of her Morgana cloaks for the event, so I checked them out.



Now, things to keep in mind for these shots: as always, I'm taking all pics in natural light, no shadows, no filters. Next, I took them starting with my default hair from Truth, Arabella. I've noted the main places the hair cuts through.



Arabella is an over-the-shoulder ponytail style, and clearly not the right one for this cloak, which is original mesh from sachi.



A change of hair (I'm sorry, I don't remember who made it) showed it was still clipping through, and I noticed a gap where skin was revealed. (I'm wearing Maitreya, though, and this was simply a case of not alpha-ing that area. It's easily fixed, and is not a flaw in the mesh cloak.)



As with most mesh, this isn't adjustable, so at times, the very slight over-shoulder gap will be visible. But I think this is more an AO issue than mesh, again--I don't have a single maker's AO, I have a patchwork compilation of movements from at least twenty different animators all joined into one. Some wearers may not notice this at all, then.



Largely, though, I found this cloak moved very well with me. Both in texturing and in draping it seems closer to brushed leather than cotton or linen, but that's no bad thing--heavy cotton, linen, light cured leather, and sailcloth canvas were all common cloak materials between the eighth and thirteenth centuries, at least, so that gives a wide variety of RP opportunities where this cloak will fit in.



There will be places where your avatar will clip through the cloak, however, because no mesh object can take into account every single movement the virtual body does. And you'll likely have to find one hairstyle you like, that doesn't clip through, and only wear that style. Or accept some hair clipping there, too.



These moments of clipping are momentary, though, and generally, if you're dealing with someone face to face, they're negligible as far as observation goes.



And, while this is far from my best work, this gives you an idea of the ten colors available for the cloak. Some are very subtle tonal shifts, some are not, but there's enough variety, I think, to suit most RP needs.

One thing I didn't specifically color--note the metal bits at the neck? They change to other colors, too, six different ones: a bright silver, or argentium, a greyed pewter, an aged brass, a bright gold, a bright rose gold, and a new copper.

I'll add another entry linked to this one when the event opens, and tell people where to go and what the cloaks cost individually and in the fatpack I'm showing here. Only two bodies for this pack, also--Maitreya and Slink. Still, people in other bodies may find the cloak adaptable to their forms. Always try demos first!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH--I, um, mean...I got some news this morning, in the form of a notecard:

It has been a wonderful 10 years working in SL. I have met so many wonderful people many have become great friends in RL & SL. I loved being creative and doing something I loved. I have enjoyed working from my home as my kids have grown. I have no regrets. But, I am in need of a change. It is time for me to close Carrie's Lingerie. August will be my last month and the 21st my last day. I will leave my items on marketplace but the store will be gone and I will be on only to enjoy my friends I have made along the way. I am excited for my new adventure whatever it may be. I want to thank all of you who have supported me through the years. Thank you for being loyal customers and friends. I love you all!
