I've been pulling for something different, but the same is all we get

Oh, dear.

dollholic1

I am so not in the right place.

Save that this is Dollholic. In all its pink, pastel, twee glory.

dollholic2

Better.

dollholic3

So this is something the folks behind the Kinky event put together. It runs heavily to 'girly' colors, lingerie, and Asian-influenced makeup sets.

dollholic4

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing here that doesn't fit their particular concept--and there's nothing here that isn't well made, with a good eye for detail. Many of the stores I am not ashamed to say I've shopped at--precisely for this reason, they make lovely lingerie that fits well and looks good.

dollholic5

I just...with the name...expected less....

dollholic6

Pink? I guess? Like, the doll community--even now that I'm largely outside it--is more than just twee babygirls?

But hey, if it works, more power to them, I'm just really not in that demographic.

11 April, 2021

oh lord, here we go

Well. This was unexpected. (A note, also: while the names are concealed, the shop isn't. Carry on.)
[11:24] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: As an aside to all this hat jibber jabber
[11:24] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: I need a Possum Cultist outfit now
[11:25] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: uhhh?
[11:25] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: https://somethingpositive.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/sp04082021.png
It me!
[11:25] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: All is revealed
[11:26] Nxx Mxxxxxxxx: sign me up
[11:27] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx secretly hopes Walton sees this and reveals one at FF
[11:27] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Complete with altar
[11:27] rxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxx: eu... for the hat?
[11:27] rxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxx: what this?
But that was never answered, because Mr. M had a question:
[11:37] Xxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: When will this outfit be available in the store? I suck at the hunt and never made it past the 2nd.
[11:38] Dxxxxx Txxxx: it was a special recolour for an existing item for a hunt if you didnt get it its no longer available
[11:38] txxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Hunt items are rarely released for sale as they're limited edition. Mr Wainwright has been known to release them for birthday celebrations. ;)
[11:38] txxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: But that's not a guarantee
[11:39] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Oh, I'm so sorry, [Xxxxxx]. You don't have to do *any* hunt point to point to point, and if you're being told you must, do not listen. You can always track down the stores you wish to search and search them alone.
And if you're being told you have to hunt store by store individually, or not finish the hunt...don't go on that hunt. It's that simple.
[11:39] Dxxxxx Txxxx: thats a big maybe
[11:39] Xxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: well, [sh*t] lol
[11:40] Dxxxxx Txxxx: and yes if you have the list of the participating stores then just go directly unless it one of those that you have to find item to continue
[11:40] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: If it lessens the blow [Xxxxxx] I have it :)
[11:42] Xxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Sure, rub it in ;)
[11:43] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: It's what I do best
[11:43] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: I too have it
[11:43] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: As well as the other limited edition items
[11:43] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): How...would that lessen the blow?
Still wondering. That seems like maximizing the blow.
[11:44] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Spreading the impact out, more like getting hit with a hammer than being stabbed
[11:44] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I...see.
[11:44] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Or maybe its more like getting stabbed multiple times... I can't remember which
[11:44] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): The imprecision of a brick, beyond the precise pointed demand of a scalpel tip?
[11:45] cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Yeah idk I'm not a scientist in painonomics
Well, really, only the six-fingered man was, so...
[11:45] rxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: A conversation with me is like being flogged to death with perfumed boot laces
Is that...good?
[11:45] Hxxxxxxxx Hxxxxx: The hunt item is still in the mainstore since Mr.Wainwright needed to settle some side issues and requires it to still be present in the mainstore. Grab it while you can, since the hint is still out too.
[11:46] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): A-ha!
[11:46] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): And if you need help, I am sure we would be willing to help. (In IM.)
And them Mr. M IMed me, and I went to Contraption, to ensure I could give him accurate directions, and it was still where it had been, and I told him, and now he has it. I feel accomplished.

you caught me smiling, why'd you wait so long? (part two)

Picking up from part one, the next five tones!

Mara-camisk6

This is the rich, cobalt blue linen, shown again with the light rope adornments.

Mara-camisk7

This is the sage linen, and at least in this pose, it doesn't clip obviously when sitting. Shown with the black rope armlets and collar.

Mara-camisk8

If anyone ever wanted a true, Tyrian purple linen camisk, Mara is definitely your girl. Shown with the black rope options.

Mara-camisk9

I know some are going to roll their eyes, but this is honestly a taupe linen...but sure, if we want to, we can name it tan. It's just got a touch too much grey to be a true tan. Shown with the brown rope option.

Mara-camisk10

And finally, the standard worn brown linen, staple of every shivering servant girl, with the light rope adornments.

I have no idea what these are going to be priced at, or which are only fatpack-specific: I'm showing off all the tones I received just to be on the safe side. Three tones of rope: the light rope, the brown, and the black (and again, I'll verify whether or not the rope belt is supposed to also change), and....it's now occurred to me I'm an idiot, and I'll explain, but ten different linen colors for the camisk.

Okay, the idiot part! I completely bypassed the inset HUD-within-a-HUD for the camisk colors! So YES the rope belt can be changed; but it changes with the little circle HUD inside the ring of colors! The collar and armlets, on the other hand, have a separate HUD to change them, so the rope belt can be one tone, the rope armlets can be another (or, if one wanted to take a bit of time, one could make the rope collar black, say, then remove it, put on the armlets and make them the light tone, then change the belt to brown.

Silly. I should have picked that up. Miss sachi is smarter than I am.

Mara is sized for Maitreya Lara, Maitreya Lara Petite, Legacy, Legacy Perky and Legacy Petite, and Slink, Slink Hourglass and Slink Hourglass Petite.

NOTE: The leg wraps aren't from this outfit; they're from a Belle Epoque outfit, "Intense Power" (in the tone Coffee).

Pictures taken in Hel's Landing, a Bloodlines-friendly, Adult land rife with demons, angels, vampires, Lycans and Vikings, so keep that in mind.

you caught me smiling, why'd you wait so long? (part one)

I love this woman. She is part of my tribe. It sounds exactly like something I'd come up with. (There is some NSFW language there, though, be aware.)

And did you know Moulin Rouge's elephant was not just a Hollywood invention? I knew, but I did not know about the back garden.

Anyway. For once, I had the time to cover something early, and I'm not about to pass this up.

Mara-camisk1

We're starting with the outfit as it came out of the box, no edits: the Mara camisk in black linen, with light-toned rope belt, armlets and collar. Observers will likely catch the gold chain of the underwear I'm wearing; I don't intend to take them off, but they're not included in the outfit.

Mara-camisk2

It also comes in white linen (again shown with the light-toned rope adornments).

Mara-camisk3

I'm not sure how period dark pink linen is? I'd think it's a hard tone to achieve medievally, but if it's seen in Gor, probably, because Gor's always had that weird pure-primitive/high-tech mix. Shown in the brown rope tone.

Mara-camisk4

Depending on the lighting, this tone is either a shaded maroon linen, or almost a russet, but I'm just going to call it wine and go from there. Everything I'm wearing, by the way, has not been adjusted for the shots, so as you'll notice on my right arm, there will be poses the rope armlets, at least, will clip a bit. Standard hazard with any animation set.

Mara-camisk5

It wasn't until the red linen that I realized the rope color HUD only changes the collar and the armlets, not the belt. I'm not sure if this is intentional, I'll ask and update.

And on to part two! I will update this when the event opens!

NOTE: The leg wraps aren't from this outfit; they're from a Belle Epoque outfit, "Intense Power" (in the tone Coffee).

[SECOND NOTE, this time from the Editrix: There is a HUD that changes the collar and armlets. I'll explain that in entry two.]

I'm all dressed up and naked, I see what's mine and take it (part III)

From part II, the last few gowns, pricing and a bit on the attached mesh collar.

Art Nouveau Gold Silk

This is the gold silk gown, which at least shows the gold tone ms. Vixen used for the velvet version. It's shown with the orange jewels.

Art Nouveau Pink Silk

I won't lie, this is a really great shade of pink silk. Paired with the pink jewels.

Art Nouveau Purple Silk

Annd finally, the rich purple silk, shown with purple jewels. And this shot also proves that not all leg movements break through the mesh.

And this time, the not shown: Wine. I figured since I didn't show the Gold velvet, I'd skip one of the silks. It made sense in my head.

ae-nouveau19

Finally, the collar. So, sachi Vixen has been working on developing her own mesh designers, over using templates. This is one of them, and according to her, the halter dress was far easier than the square-set jeweled collar. But both look amazing, fit great, and seem well integrated into each other.

Each gown runs L$295, with the fatpack of all gowns--all ten of the velvets, PLUS all ten of the silks--going for L$1500!

(End bits:

(The gown set is sized for Maitreya, Slink Hourglass, Slink Hourglass Petite, Slink Original and Slink Original Petite. I'm showing it on a Maitreya body, but a HEAVILY altered one, which means in some outfits, I wear Maitreya, some I wear Slink Hourglass. All shots were taken on Time Portal's sim. Flower crown is from Persephona, comes in a variety of tones--I'm showing the Red Poppy tone--and has a clickable feature to change the pearls around the flowers.)

I'm all dressed up and naked, I see what's mine and take it (part II)

Back from part I of the Vintage Fair posts!

Art Nouveau Pink We pick up again with the deep pink velvet, with pink jewels along the collar.

Art Nouveau Purple

This is the rich purple velvet, with purple jewels. In certain of my poses, the dress does 'break' across the front, but not badly--usually inn moves where one leg is farther forward. No other alpha clicks were needed for me to wear this. So, I'd assume dancing will also occasionally 'break' the mesh, but not badly.

The three colors of metal for the collar are silver, gold, and rose gold. Not shown for some reason: the Gold velvet.

Art Nouveau Cafe

Now, we have the silk gown set. Same as before--ten shades of fabric, ten jewel tones, three metal tones. This one is the pale, rich brown, nearly a cafe au lait with yellow topaz jewels. I took this from the side so the seaming can be shown--there, but not obtrusive, very close as a similarly-styled gown from the era would have them.

Art Nouveau Cobalt Silk

This is the royal blue silk with blue jewels.

Art Nouveau Emerald Silk This is the emerald silk, which honestly could be taken as either emerald or a deeply toned rich teal, with teal/cyan faceted jewels. It also displays that slight bit of mesh breakage at the front.

Art Nouveau Black Silk

The black silk, with the black jewels in the collar. Also, I figured out something with the jewel color settings--the two stones in the middle, diamond and onyx, control not only the complementary shade through the collar, but the other jewel pairs also. So selecting black jewels, then picking between the diamond and the onyx jewels, changes the rest, which is why this shot features a solid black collar.
ae-nouveau4

The white silk gown, shown with white diamonds.

On to part III!

11 June, 2020

I'm all dressed up and naked, I see what's mine and take it (part I)

Ooof, this is gonna be a lot. This is going to be three entries, because I want to cover all of them.

I received another review package from Adam 'n Eve, this time for the gowns designed for the upcoming Vintage Fair, which opens on the 12th at noon. (And there's already a cam sim. They're thinking ahead).

I'm starting with seven shots of the Art Nouveau velvet set.

Art Nouveau Cobalt Velvet

This is the first shade of the velvet, a rich cobalt blue. This is a halter dress with attached blue-jeweled collar (more on that later). The Maitreya version of the mesh, even with my heavily altered shape, fit perfectly out of the box.

Art Nouveau Red

This is the slinky scarlet red velvet, from the back. The collar has red jewels, which I just now realized you cannot see, because I wanted to display the curving dip of the back of the gown.

Art Nouveau Emerald

The bright emerald velvet, with black jewels in the collar piece.

Art Nouveau Onyx

The deep black velvet, with diamonds for the collar gems.

Art Nouveau White

The white velvet, which at least in this light, looks more dove grey or silver, with pink jewels.

Art Nouveau Brown

A lovely chocolate brown velvet, I changed to feature orange gems on the collar.

Art Nouveau Pumpkin

This is...either a pumpkin or a burnt umber tone, I selected to show it with purple gems.

Art Nouveau Wine

And ths one's sort of a a wine velvet shade? The gems are pale blue.

We'll pick things up in part II!

20 March, 2020

you look as good as the day I met you, I forget just why I left you, I was insane (part five)

(Continued from part four.)

The last of them, whee!

flamingo25

"Flamingo Mini Kiss04" is a hot blush pink with glitter-sparkle purple lips.

flamingo26

"Flamingo Mini Kiss05" is a hot blush pink with sparkly rose gold lips (I mean, they're likely just gold glitter lips? But with the color-drenched background, they look rose gold).

flamingo27

And this one in hot blush pink with sparkly hot pink lips. This is "Flamingo Mini Kiss06".

flamingo28

This is a seriously hot pink with sparkly hot pink lips, titled "Flamingo Mini Kiss07".

flamingo29

This is that same color-drenched hot pink with sparkly purple lips. It's named "Flamingo MiniKiss08".

flamingo30

This is in a tone I don't think is reproduced in any other outfit from this folder, "Flamingo Mini Kiss10". It's in a heathered purple shade with sparkly hot pink lips.

flamingo31

and for some reason, "Flamingo Mini Kiss19", which was a bright pink with the words "Kiss" and "XXX" written in black script over hot pink lips.

The seams are very well done, the texturing is good, the patterns are fun, but I have no idea if Ed will rename them and toss them on the Marketplace, or if he's actually planning to open a store later, or...what, exactly. Next time I see him I'll ask. Until then, you have the designer's name, and some of what he does, so drop a notecard if you're interested in any of them.

(All pictures taken in the Faerie Grotto.)

19 March, 2020

you look as good as the day I met you, I forget just why I left you, I was insane (part four)

(Continued from part three.)

The best maintenance is percussive maintenance? Anyway...

More Flamingo minis!

flamingo19

We start with "Flamingo Mini Heart 10W", a white mini with very hollow hearts in wine.

flamingo20

And for the life of me, I honestly cannot tell you whether the heart placement on this dress, "Flamingo Mini Heart11W", is so odd because I'm pushing the limits on what the Maitreya will do for the chest, or if it's just an odd placement on the top hearts. But this one is wine read, with the solid white hearts.

flamingo21

And the reverse, "Flamingo Mini Heart12W", which is white with wine red hearts, and it has that same odd placement across the bosom.

And now, the Kiss variants.

flamingo22

This one's a solid black dress with glitter-sparkle pink lips. It's called "Flamingo Mini Kiss01".

flamingo23

This variant, "Flamingo Mini Kiss02", is black, with the same glitter lip prints, this time in gold.

flamingo24

And "Flamingo Mini Kiss03", black with sparkly silver lips.

Continued in part five!

(All pictures taken in the Faerie Grotto.)

heart full of blues, space and time

While I decide if it's too late to back-date posts that contain the last of the Hair Fair pics, I got hit with this when I was listening...
