desire, I'm hungry, and I hope you feed me (part LXXIX)

(Roleplay entry. Continued from part LXXVIII.)

Zack rubbed his nose, seeing red on his hand. He looked up to see Emilly staring at the blood, before she wrenched her eyes up to his.

"Justine...um...what do we do when the medic needs a medic?"

Zack got back to his feet, slowly. It looked painful.

Justine shrugged. "I don't know! Phen isn't here!"

"Great, but...what happened?" She reached a hand out, then dropped it. "Are you...?"

Zack pulled a tissue from a pocket, lowering his head and pinching the bridge of his nose as he held the tissue against the bleeding.

Emilly reached out again, touching his chest lightly this time. "Maybe...sensitive to interdimensional protrusions, or...time/space rifts?"

He shook his head. "I'm...not sure...I almost felt like I received a punch of--my own magic."

"Your own...wait." Emilly turned away, thinking. "You draw on the elements...and...that--thing, whatever it is...that's not from an elemental plane....so..." She looked up at him, concerned. "What's causing the reaction?"

tilted7

Zack looked down, thinking. He thought he knew, but, having never experienced it before, he wasn't completely sure. Still, he voiced the barest outline of his concern. "A loss of balance? Somewhere?"

Emilly heard a breathy, high-pitched giggle, cutting it off when she realized it was hers. "Huh," was all she said aloud. "Odd..."

Zack tried to explain. "Magic users that are connected enough, can sometimes feel or experience loss of balance in the arcane when a major event happens. Considering I am...one of them, it might be possible that my...body reacted...because I already used the essence of Gearhaven to cast a spell before..."

Emilly turned, looking towards where the tower would be. "Well...the rift's gone," she murmured.

Zack threw the tissue into a bin by the fireplace, pulling out another one to clean up his nose with a bit of the wine. He stared at Emilly. She didn't seem to notice.

"The rift...is gone, you said?"

Emilly nodded slowly. "Mmhmm," she murmured. "All gone..."

tilted9

Justine shook her head, walking to the far doors. "I have had a DAY," she announced. "I'm going to bed." They both wished her well, watching her leave, and then Zack turned towards her again.

"How did that happen?" He looked her up and down, crossing his arms as he listened. She slowly turned back to face him.

"I didn't--want anything else to happen to the children. You understand. And the last attack on Justine..." She swallowed. "And I came home from...something...very..." She sighed. "Dark. So...I got the book. And I...killed the rift."

"Evil and dark?" he asked softly.

She shrugged. "Evil is such a nebulous term at times."

"May I ask, Duchess...what the book was named?"

"I don't think...it had a name."

Zack stepped closer, nodding in understanding. He gently slid one hand over her shoulder, placing the other on her chin to turn her eyes to his. "Emilly?" he asked quietly.

"Yes?"

"Does Hiro know?"

Emilly swallowed, sudden desperate urge to look away, but just trembled, shaking her head instead. "Not yet..."

He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, before he nodded. "I promise you, these lips are sealed."

She watched him, searched his eyes, then shrugged. "Well...he's going to find out. If nothing else, I'll tell him. It's just..." She trailed off again. "He's been so busy with Tannhäuser, and...we're still looking for..." The other part of his personality, she thought, but aloud, only said "Beta-El."

"What about this appearance you have...is it something your--shapeshifting powers allow you to change?"

She half-shrugged, rolling a shoulder. " A...bit...I have a few darker-skinned forms, but usually the one with horns is...dark blue? She's...safer..."

The doctor smiled at her, caressing her hair gently. "You still look beautiful in any way."

She smiled. "Thank you." Then she sighed. "I--didn't consider running into anyone, I think. I just wanted to come fix the port village..."

Zack looked at his armpod, calculating time. He nodded. "I still have time, if you wish. Justine is up in bed, and I think you also need some time to relax, after such a hard day." He smiled. "Don't make me play doctor with you...unless that's what you truly want."

Emilly stepped closer, looking up at him. "Be clear, Zack. is it playing doctor you want? Or...something else?"

He looked down at her for a long moment, raising his eyebrows. Suddenly he grinned, grabbing her arms and pulling her into a passionate kiss. He whispered sensually against her lips, "I want you..."

She slowly smiled, looking up at him. "Then I'm right here."

He pulled her to a chair he'd created with a flare of green earth energy, divesting her of attire as he did, his skin cool against hers when she straddled his lap. Only the glow of her skin, and the light of the fire, lit the room, the stars spinning in darkness overhead.

She trailed a hand up his arm, and her claws twitched...

Father said that this world isn't for me (part LXXVIII)

(Roleplay entry. Continued from part LXXVII.)

tilted1

A frantic message over the comm in the Duchess' voice: "THE WINE KRAKEN ESCAPED!"

There was a pause, and then..."Don't worry, I'm putting it back inside."

Both Zack and Justine, in different zones, looked up in alarm.

"Actually, wait..." came her next words over the comm. "You don't have a wine glass..."

And then the signal cut off.

Justine sent a comm to Zack. "I'm going--"

"I'll be there," Zack sent back, and both scrambled for ships.

Emilly for her part, had fought shifting the entirety of the day, but...as the sun fell, the urge was unavoidable, and she closed her eyes, the change moving through her. It still wasn't as smooth as she was used to, but it was no longer as excruciating, to take a new shape.

She sighed when she saw the dark red skin, faintly glowing as if lit from within. Not...a good night to be around people. Right. She walked around the house, checking the grounds for places that needed work, and saw the wandering tentacle, sending the comm over the wire. Then she lifted into the air, flew into the now-moved Krakenstorm, carefully selected every stick, every pier, every wall and window, every pier support, and slowly, slowly, turned it so the entire village once again faced the land, not the open water. Good. That would help. She flew back to land, just...watching the sun finally sink beneath the waves, breathing.

"Duchess?" she heard behind her. She turned, blinking, seeing the doctor.

"Hmm?" She searched the night behind him. Was he alone? "Hello!" she said, after a pause.

"Justine and I, we heard the comm...we came back as fast as we could."

tilted2

She blinked again. "Came back--oh. Well, I don't really think it's the wine kraken." She looked around, hearing the faintest sound of discordant bells, her head twitching once to the side. "You've been in the dining room, right?"

She leaned in closer, murmuring. "We have a wine kraken. It's a long story."

He didn't say anything. She turned back to face him, and found him watching her with concern, and an arched brow.

"Are you...all right?" he asked. "You seem a bit...different, than usual?"

She quirked a grin, her eyes glittering in the near-dark, and then she inhaled slowly, blinking. "No," she said, her voice quiet. "I'm fine. It's...fine."

Zack opened his mouth to speak and tilted his head, listening to the comm. He looked up. "Justine," he started. He listened further. "We better go see what it's about."

She nodded. "Ah. Yes. Let's go find her." She took off for the house, walking unerringly to the dining room, where she'd left the thing. By the time she got there, things had changed.

tilted3

"Now, see, THAT'S the wine kraken!" Emilly said. She heard Justine snort.

"Wine SQUID," she said distinctly. "It's very sensitive about the difference. VERY."

Emilly blinked. "So sorry," she murmured. "Wine squid."

tilted5

"And what about this?" Zack asked, pointing at the more luminescent tentacle in the wall.

Emilly nodded, walking forward. "Yeah, so, I--oof." She looked down at the coiling tentacle she'd walked into, that had poked out from under the table. "Not now."

Justine rapped the table, and the tentacle slowly pulled back. "Sorry about that. DOWN, boy!"

She walked over to the wall, looking at Justine, then Zack. "It was out in the garden, lurching for water. Or...something. I brought...it in, and...it got...stuck."

"THAT was the table kraken," Justine told Zack.

Emilly didn't seem to notice. "So I figured...if it's not actively...harmful? Or something? We had time to look into it." She looked over her shoulder at them. "Of course, the last time we saw those, all hell broke loose..."

tilted6

Zack fell to his knees with a sharp cry. Emilly ran to his side. He winced, putting a hand on his forehead.

"What happened?" Emilly said.

"Zack?" Justine asked. "Are you okay?"

if I sign this piece of paper do I sell my soul along with my duties?

Wait, when I left SL, I was laying on the bed. What happened while I was gone?!?

[21:10] Mxxxxxxx Wxxxxxxxxx: you....don't want me telling you what your avatar is doing on my viewer
[21:10] Mxxxxxxx Wxxxxxxxxx: it...it is new
[21:10] Emilly Orr: Probably not. Did I get possessed while I was gone? I was floating when I logged in.
[21:11] Emilly Orr: Hmm. Let me try a bit of traveling.
[21:11] Emilly Orr: Oh, good, there's two of me now.
[21:11] Mxxxxxxx Wxxxxxxxxx: you are...paper thin..and floating in and out at the screen like you are a 3d effect
[21:11] Emilly Orr: That is not good. Prolly make for a great picture, though.
[21:12] Mxxxxxxx Wxxxxxxxxx: it is...the world is not ready yet for some things
I guess not. Is there an SL exorcist?

my mind has wandered, the man just said so

Exile's come up with a fantastic Hallows freebie--the Arachnophobia set.

It comes with face spiders.

Sadly, they're not really *impressive* face spiders, but...they're face spiders.

Also, meet Miss Charlee Aluveaux. She's...very pink.

Photobucket

I'm sorry, I should have said...OMGINSANELYFREAKISHLYPINK. On the NUCLEAR level.

What you can clearly make out in this picture is bad enough--decapitation bling, Pepto-Bismol-on-LSD-pink, the absurd level of glow--gah. Just gah. But what you don't see in this pic? Is the spiral particle effects of pink and glittering white that went around each ear and that vibrantly glowing pink tail. Gaaah.

Meanwhile, Happy Mood has the cutest--and believe me, I use that word advisedly--pumpkin swings for two hundred Linden, in their main shop. Also, all the floating ghosties are free to copy.

Photobucket

See? It's just...*shudders*...adorable.

ANYway, some of the ghosts are animated, some aren't, just wander and pick out which you want. Plus, look around the store while you're there--Happy Mood is just an amazing store, full of small--and occasionally large--wonders.

The Putnam House in Spherion.

Photobucket

So there is some visual dissonance here. Face the house directly: it's a haunted house, fog-ridden, decrepit, with the voices of the dead crying for help. Turn south, though...and there's a nightclub next door, complete with laser lights. I don't know what it is to the north, but it looks nearly monastery-ish. This is more than a bit jarring.

When we went inside, the sounds grew, and it was quite clear something terrible had happened.

Photobucket

The cabinet doors were wonderful. The voices were whispers and cries and the screams of small children, creepily effective. Everywhere were splashes of blood and detached limbs.

Photobucket

Fawkes pointed out the real horror, for him, was behind the house--the perfectly flat, groomed to insane stripes land.

I have to admit, it got to me a little too. The abrupt transition, between what our minds accepted without question--torn wallpaper, dried blood, tattered drapes blowing in the wind through the broken window...all of which had only 'existed', in this sense, since the turn of October from the month before--and what our minds would not accept: perfection. Sterile, immutable...frozen, in a sense.

And who knows how long that's been on the grid? Likely that unnaturally manicured parcel has been there longer than the haunted house!

Photobucket

While Fawkes shot the Soul Harvesters downstairs, I ventured upstairs. There was a lot of blood pouring from upstairs down the stairwell. I never figured out where, besides the inaccessible attic, it was pouring from, but that was a lot of blood nonetheless.

Photobucket

The upstairs is divided into 2.3 rooms. Room one is--maybe--a young child's? At least, there are toys whirling about, and a child on the bed--but the tentacle in the box is extremely bothersome, if that is a child's room.

Room two is for seances, one supposes, complete with a table and a crystal ball, and the writing of the mad killer of families, scrawled in blood over the pale walls.

And room .3 is...odd. I couldn't quite parse it. It seemed like a huddled shape pressed to the back of...maybe a closet? With a frame, or screen, or window-into-alternate-reality that's full bright and full glow...but I'm still not sure. The door on this one shuts almost instantly after opening, so I couldn't even get a decent picture. If you figure it out, let me know.

It's worth at least a walkthrough. I think the downstairs works better than the upstairs. And if you go, bring a gun--you'll need it.

was I out of my head? was I out of my mind?

Tonight's adventure: the Ueno Shinrei Hospital.

"Shinrei" means "ghost", or "spirit", in Japanese. It's a fairly large haunted hospital in Edelweiss' Ueno sim.

From the (oddly translated) English manual (given out at the front with a fairly nifty flashlight that, err, only cuts out half the time):

"The Ueno spirit hospital is a Horror attraction of the walk through type.
Have the light in the hand, and to the abolition hospital where the rumor as the spirit spot doesn't discontinue...

Can you go out safely?

Please spend time happy to read the disclaimer after this well.

And keep her rules in mind:

I will prohibit the entrance of not being possible to keep the rules hard.

Please refrain from the use of one with a weak small child and heart and the pregnancies.

It doesn't assume the responsibility of a spiritual problem causing it by the use of the this hospital at all.

Just so you know.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This is a fairly well organized haunt, arrows where there need to be arrows, blocks in the halls where she doesn't want people to go, keeps things moving very well. There's something happening in nearly every room, even if it's something small and indistinct.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The sound effects were top notch--wind blowing through gaps in the structure, creaking, shattering glass...children giggling, children moaning, something that sounded like a woman gasping in shock or pain....one very unnerving chittering sound near one of the haunts...Very well done.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Unfortunately, getting the haunts to stick around long enough to actually see them? Difficult. They seem to be timed to go off on entering rooms, or leaving rooms, or when people hit certain areas in each room. And then they fade extremely rapidly.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Like this little girl in the kimono. She appeared and faded almost instantaneously three times. I had to practically pace back and forth to see her.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Some things were just unexplainable--like the preponderance of childrens' hands floating about. Creepy? Absolutely. Explained? Never in so many words.

At least...not in English.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We ascended, room by room, abandoned level by abandoned level, then were led down into water-filled tunnels underneath the hospital, dragged ourselves from the wat'ry depths, back to the hospital itself....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

....but instead, we found ourselves in the hospital's gift shop.

Where the single most unnerving thing happened, of the entire venture--we were pelted with falling televisions!

Ah, well. Not all haunts succeed. This one did to a certain extent--atmospheric it is, and it's startlingly real, but...it's more 'huh' than 'run, you fool, RUN, just GET AWAY AAAAAH'.

Though I do seem to have a...certain reminder....of our visit....

Externals make "Atsugi Keishin hospital" a model. It is the maximum abolition hospital in Kanto that exists.

and the broken glass and the dead dead trees

Just seat me in the vivisection, guys, it should be interesting from here on out...

((RP Mode....I guess))

Went to the pirate event tonight, in Steelhead. Danced overlong at Dorian's, trying to make some Lindens for the desperate need for rent, and ended up combining bits of three store-bought outfits into one wearable--if slightly licentious--one, and fairly flew to Steelhead, nearly twenty minutes late. Lunar rushed to my side when I climbed aboard ship, pulling me to the foredeck, whispering that Miss Qlippothic was mysteriously delayed, and there was no one to host, and please, could I?

So...what was I to do? I took over, organizing as quickly as I could, Fawkes grabbing my arm as I went by after setting out my tip jar, grinning and pulling me into a dance...and what was I to say then, too? No?

No.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Of course I danced, but I also welcomed people aboard, reminding everyone of the fact that the dance prizes were donated (by Miss Abby Coalcliff of Devilish Cupcake, so sweet of her!), and our DJ Fuzzball Ortega worked hard serving up our very odd requests, and deserved tipping, and in the meantime people are tipping me...

...and twenty minutes later, Miss Qli shows up.

I bespeak her quickly, mind to mind--once a member of the Unseelie, always, and it was convenient--and explain the situation. I'm rushed, perhaps tactless, and I did not mean to be--I meant to ask if she wished to take over, and I think I more implied I'd taken over, but either way, the words were out, and she...shrugged. Released her chosen duty. Said she'd have to get used to not hosting anyway...

While I was puzzling over her unexpected change in attitude, my friend Midnight, now a pirate Captain in her own right, came aboard ship, saw her clockwork damsel in distress, and swept her away to the islands, most likely, while the rest of us spun and whirled. And the night went on, but my mind went into overdrive. Something was wrong.

Much as I didn't want to admit it, something was wrong with this. And much as I didn't want the responsibility, I had to change it.

A few hours went by, the ones I kept company with unknowing as I carefully constructed a spell I'd only used once before. Precarious to build, precarious to fuel, it would allow me to walk at a distance, speak and be heard, see and be seen...all while remaining in my own location, far away. I do believe, now and ever, Dr. Mason is absolutely trustworthy with my person...but it wasn't the doctor I was after.

While the physical portion of me danced on a distant island, my shade stalked Steelhead, walking up to the Bloodwing Foundation, ghosting through the front door. I noticed my picture on the wall of the front room as I passed, and it steeled my resolve. I followed the faint energy traces of the Doctor--and the scent of formaldehyde even my shade could pick up--until I found him, taking a break in his laboratory.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I sighed behind him. "Darien..." I began.

He turned, removing his goggles, eyebrows raising. "Yes Miss Orr?"

And the distant pose, I thought, we had no time for, and he wasn't the one I wanted to talk to anyway. I strode closer to him, leaning down, looking in his eyes, calling up every memory I had of the incubus, good and bad, and called his name again. An answering flicker of flame, deep in the Doctor's blue eyes, and I knew there was some sort of connection.

"You do realize how happy you made Darkling, when you--demonic you--showed up at that hotel?"

"And Lumina," the distant, dark voice said, and I nodded. And Lumina. How could he not?

And I talked. Slightly angry, slightly frustrated, slightly confused, and I won't say I haven't missed talking to the demon, on occasion, as much as I've held myself away. We discussed changes in his daughter, changes in the Doctor, good and bad and indifferent, and changes in the town.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I remembered the outfit I'd worn the night of the slave auction in Lumindor, that started the leavetaking. Unwilling, but it seemed to strengthen the connection. And we kept talking, instruments ticking around us, the rest of Steelhead asleep.

We talked of daughters growing up, and growing pains, and heartache. We talked of punishment and employment and consequence. I talked about the Steelhead host position, and how he'd be very nearly perfect for it--the demon's silver tongue, his love of dancing, his odd charisma, and his perfect web of contacts across the grid...and we finally came to his banishment, and the reasons for it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Memories kept flooding back, as if the floodgates, once released, would never close. I remembered walking around dead the day he said goodbye, because I felt dead inside. I remembered not being able to change before I went to the town meeting, and shocking all those who saw me, skin stretched and stitched, hair grey straw, smile sutured in place.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And all the memories in between...watching Taiyou go up, day by day, marveling at the structure, at Lunar's skill as builder. Knowing he was building it for me as much as for the town, and being astounded he'd go so far just for an employment opportunity.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I remembered the winter that I started working at Le Jardin, and wandering the world away from Steelhead...it nearly felt as if I were two people, one little shifter in tatterdemalian Victorian dress, and the older neko in mourning, wandering the odd places across the grid, because she only felt at home with oddity, until she recovered from the loss of her prince.

And here I looked into the eyes of another prince I'd lost.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I couldn't be sure, but I was fairly convinced when I first met Darien, in the lobby of Le Jardin, I was still wearing the mourning band. I don't think I took it off until well into December, may in fact have had it on for our second meeting at the Enigma, Christmas night.

In fact...I'm sure of it.

I watched his eyes, watched the Doctor's mouth, and heard words I never thought I'd hear either of them speak.

"Well," the demon's voice said, "If you want to summon him yourself and forgive him, that would break the banishment..."

I blinked. That simple? Just that? Just...

...wait. What was it the rumors had said, in far places? I'd heard them, how did they go? I didn't realize I was speaking aloud until I heard the echo on the air.

"Say his name three times and he shall appear to satisfy your desires, and his own. Be warned..."

I looked up, meeting his eyes. I won't say he laughed; it was too serious a moment for that. But I definitely got the impression that I'd misunderstood.

"The desire," he said softly, "in this case, being forgiveness."

That simple, I thought again. Nothing was that simple. I looked warily at him.

"Well," he said, the flames dancing in the Doctor's eyes. "What would you say to undo 'no more demon, no more'?"

And I could have struck myself, in that moment, save my hand would have passed straight through my face. Words flung in anger by a woman hurt by his hand, bad enough, but--a shifter new to the Unseelie, named phouka and later succubus? What sort of power did such a being hold, unknowing or not?

I sighed, feeling abysmally out of my depth. "Universe took it that literally, did it?"

"Yep," he said. And waited. And I had to think about it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

After all, I'd changed a lot in the months since he'd been gone. I'd left Lumindor, I'd pried the succubus out of Dark City, I'd made my peace with my demonic fledgling and we seemed to function more or less in synch. I'd discovered love unexpected, undreamt of, and walked away from so many in my life, in the meantime. I'd suffered additional heartbreak, suffered financial crisis, learned to build, learned to script, learned to make clothes, set up a small business...once everything was finally in place, I was in line to run Taiyou...I'd gotten back into dancing, and become a model, and...

Of course I didn't want to go back, but that wasn't what we were discussing. I wouldn't be asking the demon to return for me. Maybe I was just asking the demon to return, for I'd never meant to banish him in the first place.

Even the ticking of the lab's instruments fell still as I spoke.

"It was...never my intent, nor my will, to banish one I'd loved to such terrible punishment. It was never my will to remove one others loved from this plane. All I wanted, all I wanted, was an end to it..."

I trailed off as I watched him, realizing I meant that. An end to pain between us, an end to the games, an end to him trying to draw me back into his life...I left House Bloodwing because of it, I walked away from the demon entirely, and I very nearly left Steelhead...for memories, if nothing else, but because at one point, even seeing him was a a blow to my heart, making me wince and curl inward, and I'd grown long tired of flinching at the sight of horns.

"But through all of it," I continued, blinking my insubstantial lids, "...No, I never wanted the demon removed."

I took a deep and completely unnecessary breath, ghosting through the back wall, rising through the earth until I stood behind the house, listening to the call of the sea. It took some time, but I finally heard the creaking of the Doctor's wheeled chair moving around the foundation, out onto the grass. I turned, watching him approach, a wind I couldn't feel lifting strands of my dark red hair, sudden electricity raising my lilac fur, even as a shade. I waited until he was close enough to see his eyes clearly, once more. If I was to do this, I wanted it done right...and I wanted it done tonight.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

"Bloodwing, I forgive you. Bloodwing, I summon you back. Bloodwing, I break your banishment. Is it enough?"

Lightning struck the ground behind me, and I whirled. I saw Darien, winged, horned Darien, rise from the earth, form caked in hoarfrost, frost cloud billowing from the garments he wore. His fire eyes glowed first, unearthly, then his hands were lit with limbic glow, and soon, his entire form held its own nimbus, crackling with energy. Behind me, the Doctor said something, but I admit, I was too stunned to hear. Something in me honestly hadn't thought it would work...

The ice coating him shattered, and he dropped to the ground, his wings limp, and slowly, oh, so slowly, lifted to his feet. I felt him drift through me, sudden savage chill shaking me to the core, and he was behind me. His voice sounded frozen, as well, but it was gaining in strength.

"Thank you...Emilly..."

I nodded once, watching the waves, then turned, and watched the last of the Darien I remembered meld with the Doctor in the chair, as he stood on shaking legs.

"I never intended such pain," I said. "It was more than you dealt me. It's unfair. It's time it was over."

"It was the pain I felt I deserved. Threefold at the very least."

I watched him, tapping an extended claw against a lilac-furred arm, thinking.

"Do you still feel you deserve it? If so, the universe will find a way to act on your will again."

The demon sighed. "As long as I've learned my lesson...yes."

I squared my shoulders, nodded, and hoped it was enough. I dissipated the spell and watched Steelhead, and the demon, fade from view, and returned to my physical form--which immediately collapsed to the floor of the bamboo cabana Fawkes and I were dancing in.

He leaned over me, worried. I smiled with what energy I had, shrugging again.

"The demon," I whispered, "is back."

Let's hope he has learned his lesson, in truth, or...the dance will continue. And this time, I go into the dance armed.

Beyond strange adventures on pose stands, it's been fairly quiet. I had some time today and spent it building, getting four new items--three variations on one facial piercing, and one pack of all three--up on Kartiny, so I have this tidy little sense of accomplishment now.

I admit this--I need to talk about change, I need to talk about consequence, and above all, I'm nearing the middle of the month where I need to start thinking about rent, which is the why behind the spurts of building, but...I have this...peace, and I don't want to disturb it.

Eleven months I've been on the grid, eleven months I've been learning, exploring, interacting, surviving, and...I've never had peace. I've been happy; I've been in love; I've been giggly and playful and exultant and content.

But this...this peace...deep and spreading through me, the pool of still clear water, nourishing me down to the roots I no longer acknowledge, and...I just want a few more moments, where I am on absolutely steady ground, before everything lights on fire again.

That's all I want.

But instead, I get Exorcist moments in sandboxen. Go figure.
