(The priestesses hold themselves responsible for making watermelon ices, huge tureens of healing squash soup, and inexplicably, caprese from tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil. How did these items get into a fantasy realm? Who knows?)

The Summer Festival, the Festival of Sune in Neverwinter. To get special festival gear, one "adventures" by slaying marauding trolls who want barbecue, slaying kobolds who want to eat flowers to get high, catching pigs and chickens for farmers, harvesting those self-same intoxicating blooms in great numbers, throwing water balloons at other participants, and harvesting corn. Doing all these things will eventually give you enough flowers (or flower petals) to get weapon and clothing transforms, most of which are adorned with those very flowers that too so much time to harvest in the first place!

So, definition of terms for those who may not know.

• CW: Control Wizard--your basic spellcasters. They generally have two basic elemental fields, which break down to fire and ice (though there's some earth-shaking at higher levels, some growing of things now and again, and bursts of lightning throughout).
• TR: Trickster Rogue, the sneak-thiefs, the shadow assassins, the ones who can seemingly disappear in broad daylight.
• HR: Hunter Ranger. Think incredibly skilled archers who can also hide in plain sight if they want. They can also summon pretty powerful personal buffs to help them heal themselves or others, or increase their damage or their resistance to attack.
• GWF: Great Weapon Fighter. AKA, the guys with the pointiest armor and the most oversized swords.
• DC: Devoted Cleric, basically the healers.
• GF: Guardian Fighter, since it comes up later in this conversation. They're like Great Weapon Fighters, except they fight with sword and shield, and their main job is to debuff the bad guys and strengthen the good guys.

There's one more class--the Scourge Warlock--and one coming in Module Six--the Paladin. But they're not of main import to this captured bit of chat.

So, according to an intrepid group of researchers, it has been discovered that cucumbers, mainly, ride the New York subway.



No, not really, but what did happen is these researchers spent hours on one full subway line, gathering samples of bacteria. Then they tested them, with current evaluation standards, and learned many things. But even better, they learned how many things they didn't know. Also, this is fascinating, if a bit creepy: medical science has discovered that skin from cadavers is actually better at healing living skin wounds than synthetic skin, or even transplanted skin from the same living being. But keep in mind, this isn't just a chunk of dead skin attached to the wound: through special treatments, they've been decellularized--in other words, everything that gives human skin its thickness and color has been removed. What's left? The base matrix of skin itself--all the non-cell filaments and proteins that make up the structure.

So why is this a good thing? Two reasons: first and most important, skin matrix that's been scraped clean of all cellular matter won't be rejected by a new host. And secondly, for all the advances in synthetic skin production--and there have been many--it's just not as good as what humans grow on their own.

Ah, this may track down the when, because I've only gone through the realm of the Sky Pirates with a couple characters; it's the one region of Neverwinter that I absolutely cannot stand. So I'd say, with all the mentions of learning lore that I'm trimming, this likely would've been the turn of the year 2014, or even as far back as November of 2013.

The bug they're talking about seems unique to this zone, too, and I have no idea if it's fixed yet, because I tend to avoid that zone. What the expected behavior is with maps in a new zone: you pull up the map, and see where you are, and--if you have an active quest--where you need to go.

Simple.

In the meantime, Japan is setting up the first steps towards WestWorld....sort of: they're planning a robotic hotel based on the clean construction lines of...the Netherlands??...for the comfort and security of their guests. Robotic staff, robotic check-in, and facial recognition software instead of locks on the doors...Yeah, okay, it's not Yul Brynner being evil with a gun, but I'm much too paranoid. Something's going to go horribly wrong.

Also in Japan, the Japanese Army decided to invade the Sapporo Snow Festival--kind of literally. It took bulldozers and over three thousand tons of snow to help the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces’ 11th Brigade do what they wanted to do for the festival--build a monument to Stormtroopers and Star Wars. And I have to admit, it looks AMAZING.

And lighter fluid you can pick up anywhere, camping gas for lanterns and the like is available almost everywhere else, so this could be the next big thing to keep gadgets up and running off the grid. It's already halfway to its goal; I hope they make it.

To be honest, part of the reason to buy a specific mount is because of the look of that mount, price is a secondary factor. Like, I really want an owlbear, but I don't think it'd work for all characters. And Miss Neome keeps talking about buying me whichever game pack it is with a Unicorn mount, because the Unicorns are pretty fast, but...it's a Unicorn. I can't name one single character I have currently that would really rock a Unicorn.

True, but there's a couple advantages here and there--first, they occasionally drop in price if you watch the Auction House, and second, you can find wards in dungeon chests, and in lockboxes pretty frequently. So there's that at least.

Well, they do drop lockboxes with frequency...Okay, that's one big complaint I have, is that you get lockboxes in nearly every enemy encounter, but the keys to open them run between 100 and 125 Zen. That's Zen bought with real money, not AD earned in game. And I wouldn't mind so much but there's a finite amount of bank slots available without spending more Zen to get more. Right now, I have nearly all lockboxes consolidated in the bank of one character, but right now we're talking about eight different types of lockbox, and in some cases, hundreds of boxes in each stack. It's a pain.

So that I'll give them, but...I still wouldn't call it "abuse".

I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

This happened during the winter Simril celebration in Neverwinter, while I was standing around with friends at the dwarven temple. (We'd picked there to gather because it was reasonably out of the way, fairly contained to a small area, and we could just lob gifts at each other on various characters and not make everyone need to walk around us in the main square.)

Everything starts out as expected in Zone chat: thanking folks for their gifts, asking to join gift parties, et cetera--I trimmed some of the back-and-forth out because it was more of the same.
