So glad we all weren't left hanging on the tragic tale of Two Dormmates and their Welcome Mat...but obviously, again, God was in some form of altered state when he told me this.

Also, God brings me odd comics. Pretty sure that's not funny in any traditional sense, but it would likely be hysterical if I was the type to find Nazi anime girls attractive too. (Yeah. He found me that too. Did I mention God is on the deranged side?)

Meanwhile, from Myspace...this:

Hey, I came across your blog through Nic Buxom and thought you seemed pretty interesting. ^. ^

Um. Her name is Indie McEmopants.

Indie? If you're reading? Thank you, but I never go to MySpace unless it's to view someone's band/music page. Seriously. I don't even remember how to log in anymore, it's been that long. Want to follow me? Grand. Blog. Right here. But MySpace? My MySpace is pretty content-less by design, because I never log in.

Comment from David Cartier I found relevant:
It's not exactly extortion; more of an Academic Babylonian Captivity, and for a lot of people, Linden lab waited just a bit too long to cave. A lot of Plan Bs have already been put into effect. All of the Open Sim Welcome Areas have been more like refugee processing centres the last few days.
What that's from? Read on. Seems an educational sim got notice by email of the 'locking in' of lower rates. The problems in this--and they are many--are:
  • There's still no info on the blog about the discounted price extensions.
  • There's still no acknowledgement of grant-funded educational organizations who may not be able to gain access to additional funds, and especially not this quickly.
  • There's zero acknowledgement that many educational institutions just can't move within two months--not off SL, per se, because that's what many of them are thinking, but "move" as in move forward--that the matter of additional requested payments is rarely the choice of one individual owner, but a board of directors or other educators who meed at specific times and discuss budgetary concerns.
  • And the big one, there's a total absence of any Linden-based acknowledgement that it just doesn't matter whether they're announcing this in October or next Aprille--that the funds needed and requested were allocated in August, and won't be allocated again until next August.
In short? It speaks to a rather insane level of utter cluelessness, if not outright contempt, on the part of Linden Labs for their educational userbase. I'm agreeing with the "abusive lover" comment of Daniel Smith's:
The 'early renewal' option sounds too much like an abusive lover.. too much like 'oh baby, don't go.. please come back.. I'm sorry.. it'll be different this time!'.
"The damage has been done," he goes on to say, "and people will move on". Damn right it has. And they will.

Pathfinder left what I consider to be the definitive comment on Iggy Onomotopoeia's blog...

...and as Iggy replied, who should know better about that than Path?

Sphynx,

Now I'm confused--they know about the free version? So...they're the same company? Or is that just giving in to the inevitable. Because frankly, if the free version is not from them, I'd want to pay them for the real version.

Mr. Telling,

Wau. I'm sort of spiralling into the outer reaches on Tateru Nino's blog, but this is turning into its own entry. Thank you for the link!

No, definitely not the same person. The maker of the free one has had some....drama....associated with them on a not-uncommon basis.

I have heard this. I'm still trying to track down quotables. Apparently she's been a proponent of copyright protections, take no prisoners, anyone who copies is bad and evil...except for, you know, her?

hide away, they say, 'cos we don't want your broken parts

Yeah, so...remember that thing I was recovering from? You know, last year ? Yeah. I did it again. So this is Em Faw Down Go Boom part ...
