claiming blissful listlessness
Still going through Charisma Designs fashions from their Advent calendar; this time, I'm talking about their Chocolate Fantasy gown:
The box art makes this dress look luxurious and rich. Deep, chocolate-brown satin trimmed in strings of shimmering gilt pearls, wrapped into a decorative arrangement along the bared back, and left as simple detail work across the bodice. Simple, and simply lovely.
Well, until I put it on. Note to self: never use this pose with this style of dress again.
As mentioned, the glass-pearl work along the back; there's a hint of shadow beneath each painted dot, that does a marvelous job of convincing the eyes it's actually a pearl with definition and structure. Well done.
(Though as you can see, there are problems between my shape, and the panels on the skirt.)
Along the front, it's a low décolletage, without being unnecessarily showy where the cleavage is concerned. It manages to be comfortably sensual, without being tacky.
The texturing on the big belled skirt could be better, but it does manage, in a fairly simple texture, to seem like a sweeping, draped satin skirt with very few shading lines. The color is good, the highlights are good; I'd just prefer a better repeat for the texture itself.
But I mentioned the problems with the skirt, above. It's no-modify. More on that issue later.
(Worn with this: Curious Kitties' Azil skin in Peach [Winter Ice variant, free currently for group members at the main store, or for everyone on the Marketplace]; IM Capped's Soul Windows eyes in Snow Day [Visined]; the 'Holiday Shadow - Blue 2' makeup layer from elymode; and the "Sierra" mesh hair in Brown from Alice Project. All were either seasonal gifts or actual Advent calendar offerings. With the skirt so full, also, I forwent wearing stockings or shoes underneath it.)
