Have you ever had one of those days where nothing goes exactly according to plan? This was mine.
I still can't figure out what's wrong with these boots.
(from the bizarre album) |
Are they going to stay this way? Every time I log in from now on?

I relogged and everything. Twice.
Finally, I gave up, and, having heard of the sale at Bobtails for Felis mod skins, I changed my boots to a pair that behaved, then ported down and considered my options. Among the things I dragged back to my skybound lair were several unusual shades of lynx skins. One was a pale leaf-green tone, with darker green patterning, and gold flashed along the eye. I decided if I was going to take the time to mod the head for this, then I should mod it right. So I picked my texture, carefully dragged it over each individual prim of the head, then found a hair I thought went with it (a little hefty at 174 prims, but hey), and attached that to the skull.
That's when things went horribly, horribly wrong:

IT'S BLINKING.
No, seriously:

WHY IS IT BLINKING??
At least I wasn't the only one having problems:

Personally, I blame two things for this. First, that I caved and downloaded Singularity, because even Niran's was eating my brain.
And secondly, I blame Singularity.

Because seriously, people...these are not normal things to see, and they seem persistent across sessions. What is UP with the graphics?!?
I'm going to take a few hours, maybe even the rest of the night off, in the hopes that whatever weird visual glitchy code fracture is going on will fix itself.
And hey, if it doesn't...well, I always have Niran's.
*sighs resignedly*

Quad avatars often deform the avatar PRETTY badly - as you saw in the second example. :)
No explanation for the blinky though. :(
No, I know; realistically, I just threw him in because he seemed to fit the rest of the surreality.
But the head...I retextured a copy of the Uchi head, added a copy of the hair I wanted, and BAM! I've got my eye sockets larger than life and blinking at me.
Delete, rez out new copy, tint that copy completely--take that copy BACK into inventory--rez a NEW tinted copy out, add the hairpiece--and BAM, eye socket-zilla again.
And the boots are just as mystifying. I've had graphics glitches that required a relog for everything to fix itself. I've never had one that's persistent across three sessions. And you know me, you know I clear cache, quit, log in, clear cache, quit, and log back in when I'm really paranoid.
And the boots aren't changing. Even after several detaches, reattaches, and rebaking textures. Just ODD.
