and right now they're building a coffin your size

Raglan Shire, so I'm told, is breeding up tiny mutants for the Tiny Freak Show this weekend. I'm strangely looking forward to this. I hope I get time to go.

Then onward, for a haunt I'd heard of, and attended last year. Let's see how the Halloween Haunted Village has changed.

Well, this year it's bigger--last year it was essentially a large skybox with a haunted house. This year there are several structures, lots of poses, lots of different "areas"--with oddly cheerful blue and white 'info' posts you can click to learn more about that section--and 'many ways to die'.

Let me restate that so you get the idea--the notecards on entry list "Many ways to die!!!!" As if that's a good thing.

Now you see me...

...now you don't.

I had grand stupid fun with this one. Seriously, walk out the Pod House by means of the back door. Find the squareish sculpt that says "crawl back under your rock". Right-click and select "hide". You are now HIDING.

And, if you're like me, giggling maniacally.

The problem is, the clever touches are few and far between. And we've seen nearly everything this year already--the spooky abandoned house, Jason and Freddy, whirling furniture in midair, the haunted asylum, the giant spiders...not only that, but it seems that everyone--and even I am not immune to this!--are buying from Grimworx and Ramos Designs this year.

Don't get me wrong, both Grimworx and Ramos are doing wonderful things for haunts, they really are. Stellar offerings this year, which may be why so many people are turning to them. The problem is, it tends to give a lot of the haunts the same feel.

Now, upstairs in the asylum the Haunted Village did turn out another clever touch--by taking freebie poses and turning them into the Sanitarium Rec-Room from Hell. Hop on any of the eight or so poseballs scattered around the room and watch what happens.

Beware the "Alergic Reaction" [sic], though. Makes your legs all wobbly after.

Some of the other poses are interesting, too. Click on many objects just randomly, you'll be posed before you know it, and they're not otherwise marked. Great for pictures, somewhat bad for a consistent haunt, but hey.

All in all, it's worth a look, sure, just...don't expect anything to genuinely creep you out. It's pedestrian, this year. Which--with all the creativity behind it--is just a touch sad.

Thank you for the tour of haunts...as well as your own! I actually liked the Halloween Haunted Village, perhaps because I enjoy all the ways to expire. The various poseballs are a great deal of fun. But...the pose used in bobbing for apples seemed to be based on, ah, how should I put it, another pose that seems to mimic the same sort of bobbing activity. I appreciate the creator's recyling effort!

I thank you kindly for visiting, by the way.

Well, as I didn't see everything on our visit, I'm more than willing to look it over again. But also, there's more than a few...hrm...shall we say, "questionable"...poses. The ring of stones surrounding the altar just off from the industrial area, f'rinstance...is definitely not using a PG pose. :)

I've got a three day headache and it's all in my head

It's the 30th of March. One day before Ostara. And there's been a lot of...well. Conversations like the one below. [18:43] Emil...
