I don't know if I can open up, I've been opened enough (part IX)

I'm going to jump ahead a bit, because this baffling bit of nonsense just occurred, so, while I'm still going to process and fill in entries between when I left off and now, this had to be mentioned.

This is from the Apple Fall group, so I'm leaving in the mention of the group name, but anonymizing all other names, including the one I desperately want to leave plainly visible, because wau, does she have an attitude:
[12:43] cxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Hey everyone, I heard about the Gachas going away, did Apple Fall take aways theres?
[12:43] Kxxxxx Rxxxxx: been retired years ago
[12:43] Txxxxxxx Dxxxx: couple of years
[12:44] jxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: lol a while back
[12:44] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I am also retired
Meet Ms. A., the highly offended chicklet who will show up later.
[12:44] Wxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: reading the article from LL all gatchas ( from all creators) will have to be retired
[12:44] Dxxxxxxx Txxx: Wow. . . Any idea why?
[12:45] vxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: cause LL said so
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Yep. Changes in EU law were finally impressed upon the Lab in a particular way: lose gambling mechanics, or we ban your service from Europe.
Make note of this statement: apparently this is what caused the argument in IMs later.
[12:45] Mxxxxxxxx Sxxxxxxxxx: Gambling is what they are saying and most states do not allow that
[12:45] axxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: yet LL has casinos. weird.
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): So does Monaco.
[12:45] Axxxx Dxxxxx: so now its Europe who is the bad guy
I didn't say that. I said, changes in regulatory law. There are some anti-gambling mechanics law in the US as well, as pointed out.
[12:45] Mxxxxxxxx Sxxxxxxxxx: Again some states do not allow it so they have to remove them
[12:46] Axxxx Dxxxxx: think she was a woman btw
Who was?
[12:46] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): No, it comes down to predatory practices, and gachas and lootboxes are what is being considered predatory currently.
[12:46] Dxxxxxxx Txxx: Bloody 'ell. The EU strikes again. I'm so sick of clicking "yes, I'll accept your cookies!"
[12:46] jxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: china doesnt allow it. i believe thats one part i read. but wth
[12:46] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): That could be too.
[12:47] jxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: personally i will not miss them they were crap.
[12:47] axxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: Wish casinos would get banned too. ^^
[12:47] jxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: lots of common befoer you get a rare. waste of money
[12:47] Dxxxxxxx Txxx: Well, there is that, [Jxxxxxxx]. If I wanted something that was in a gacha, I always bought it aftermarket.
For the most part, I have too. I've honestly spent more on gachas this month than I have in the run of SL--I figure, if I'm facing four to nine hundred for a single item from X store, why not pay fifty or a hundred Lindens to try to get it that way? And I've done fairly well, overall. But I've also compiled a stack of items I don't need.
[12:48] jxxxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: i just never wasted my lindens .) i like to know what i buy
[12:49] Axxxx Dxxxxx: gambling was banned years a go so casinos?
The problem is that thin line between "gambling" and "skill-based game". It can look like a casino, act like a casino, and have signage like a casino, but as long as they're using games marketed as "skill based", they juuuust slide under that line.

Slightly before this bit of chat capture ended, though, Ms. A. got in my face, because...I'm lying to people?? Apparently?
[12:46] Axxxx Dxxxxx: how can it be Europe?
[12:47] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I thinnk there is some misunderstanding there
[12:47] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Well, Belgium passed the first laws banning video game lootboxes, then Germany followed. Japan banned most, if not all, gacha machines located within gaming palaces.
[12:47] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): it was only a matter of time.
[12:48] Axxxx Dxxxxx: Japan is not Europe
No, really, genius? I never would have known. I could have sworn Japan was right next to France.

Dean-Winchester-eyeroll
[12:48] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): You're not paying attention. Games are international.
[12:48] Axxxx Dxxxxx: and I am happy to see them go
[12:48] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you spread false info
Where?
[12:48] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): The general scope of understanding is that gachas and lootboxes are both considered predatory practices now.
[12:48] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Really?
[12:48] Axxxx Dxxxxx: rwwww
[12:49] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Welcome to believe that.
[12:49] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): "Due to a changing regulatory climate, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to sunset a very popular sales mechanism for content in Second Life. It’s widely known as "gacha", and is defined by a chance-based outcome as a result of a payment."
[12:49] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): That is direct from the Lab.
[12:50] Axxxx Dxxxxx: it do NOT mention Europe or EU
"Does not".
[12:50] Axxxx Dxxxxx: right?
[12:50] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I point you to this answer from the forum thread:
For some reason, between the time of this conversation and now, that link failed to work, but I found it again in the forum thread:

regulatory-changes
[12:50] Axxxx Dxxxxx: and you say Europe is the reason
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): But hey, you're welcome to think it has nothing to do with Europe. Knock yourself out.
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): And no, I am not saying "Europe is the reason". I am saying CHANGING REGULATIONS are the reason.
[12:51] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you do NOT listen
Neither do you.
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): They started in Belgium, moved to Germany, then to the larger EU. That is fact.
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): That is not me saying ooh, these are bad people.
[12:51] Axxxx Dxxxxx: what is larger EU?
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): This is simple regulatory law.
[12:51] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): How many countries comprise the EU?
[12:52] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): It's a united body for conjoined trade.
[12:52] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you spread dis-information
How?
[12:52] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Welcome to believe that.
[12:52] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I read what you wrote
[12:53] Axxxx Dxxxxx: see:
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (Emilly Orr): Yep. Changes in EU law were finally impressed upon the Lab in a particular way: lose gambling mechanics, or we ban your service from Europe.
[12:53] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Yes.
[12:53] Axxxx Dxxxxx: now lets see the evidence
[12:53] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): And the regulations have been moving towards this for some time, the Lab was trying to hold out.
[12:53] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you deny your own words
How am I denying anything? I'm holding the same position I started with.
[12:53] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Seriously? You can't spend five minutes Googling?
[12:53] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): JFC, fine.
[12:54] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Gimme a minute.
[12:54] Axxxx Dxxxxx: to satisfy you
[12:54] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/STUD/2020/652727/IPOL_STU(2020)652727_EN.pdf
[12:54] Axxxx Dxxxxx: besides I do not use Google
That explains a lot.
[12:54] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-9-2019-004184_EN.html
[12:54] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): And it shows, chicklet.
[12:55] Axxxx Dxxxxx: but you spread nonsense
[12:55] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): This from 2018, these laws have now passed https://www.businessinsider.com/loot-boxes-european-regulation-2018-9
[12:55] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): This from a year ago: https://gamerant.com/eu-loot-boxes-gambling-consumer-protections/
[12:55] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Is that enough, or should I keep digging?
[12:55] Axxxx Dxxxxx: thats is NOT about SL or LL ... right
[12:55] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): OMG. Fine. Bury your head in the sand, I have better things to do.
[12:56] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I think you should admit you slander Europe
The absolute entitlement in that statement. "Slandering" Europe. I'm not slandering Europe, first, second, I cannot legally slander Europe, as far as I know, or any individual country--only persons individual can claim slander or libel harm, not persons en masse. Or am I wrong in that?
[12:56] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr) cackles
[12:56] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I'm not slandering Europe.
[12:56] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Did you read ANYTHING I sent you?
[12:56] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): WHICH YOU ASKED FOR, by the way?
[12:56] Axxxx Dxxxxx: yes I have noticed you cackle
[12:56] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Oh, good, you can read. Marvelous.
Even with the typing and responding, I was beginning to doubt.
[12:57] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I do NOT use freaking Google
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I DON'T CARE
[12:57] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you are rude
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): You said you wanted proof
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I gave you proof
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Move along
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): You have several times accused me of slander, lying, and falsifying information
[12:57] Axxxx Dxxxxx: gawd - Americans
Never denied being one. Several times apologized for being one in general, considering our world standing, but never denied being one. I'm fully aware.
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I think I'm allowed rude at this point
I admit to slightly losing my cool. Four days of a heat spike, a patch of heatsickness yesterday, I am off balance. I grant that. But come on. Mother Teresa would have scoffed at this idiot.
[12:57] Axxxx Dxxxxx: LL will get this
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): They have. It's done.
[12:57] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Gachas are going away.
[12:58] Axxxx Dxxxxx: fine ...
[12:58] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Or do you possibly mean you're going to report me for a ToS violation? Do have fun with that.
I'm just dying to know how her AR will word "slandering Europe".
[12:58] Axxxx Dxxxxx: can you go away?
[12:59] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): You IMed me!
[12:59] Axxxx Dxxxxx: and you said:
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (Emilly Orr): Yep. Changes in EU law were finally impressed upon the Lab in a particular way: lose gambling mechanics, or we ban your service from Europe.
[12:59] Axxxx Dxxxxx: as if Europe is the reason
[12:59] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Right....
[12:59] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): No, the regulation changes are the reason.
[12:59] Axxxx Dxxxxx: LL dont care a bit about us
[13:00] Axxxx Dxxxxx: only america counts
And then, as if I had somehow missed it the last two times she listed it back to me:
[13:00] Axxxx Dxxxxx:
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (Emilly Orr): Yep. Changes in EU law were finally impressed upon the Lab in a particular way: lose gambling mechanics, or we ban your service from Europe.
[13:00] Axxxx Dxxxxx: thats is NOT what you tell us all
[13:00] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): it wouldn't matter if it were Namibia or Jersey--if the regulations changed, and that vicinity insisted they would block the service if the Lab didn't comply--the Lab will comply.
[13:00] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you really do not get me
[13:01] Axxxx Dxxxxx: have fun in your fantasy US
[13:01] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Well, if you'd bother to even read one of the links, you'd understand, but fine. I don't understand you. I'm desperately clueless. Woe is me.
[13:02] Axxxx Dxxxxx: are you not aware that millions of people avoid Google?
[13:02] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I don't care?
[13:02] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I see that
[13:02] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): What, you want me to search them down through Bing?
[13:02] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Send you hard copy?
[13:02] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): What are you after?
[13:02] Axxxx Dxxxxx: and truth is not your business
Whatever, babycakes. I'm done with your nonsense.
[13:02] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Enjoy the rest of your day, [Axxxx].
[13:02] Axxxx Dxxxxx: just tell me you wrote this wrong
Why? That would be lying.
[13:03] Axxxx Dxxxxx:
[12:45] Emilly Shatner-Orr (Emilly Orr): Yep. Changes in EU law were finally impressed upon the Lab in a particular way: lose gambling mechanics, or we ban your service from Europe.
OMG, yes, we know, you can copy-paste. What an amazing life skill you've learned.
[13:03] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you have spoiled my day and in Europe its rather late evening
[13:03] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): How have I possibly spoiled your day? Look at your own regulations.
[13:03] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I do NOT rgulate any
[13:04] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): You want to prove me wrong, track down the laws. Show me.
[13:04] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I am not US
[13:04] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I never said you were
[13:04] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I said track down YOUR laws
[13:04] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Read them
[13:04] Axxxx Dxxxxx: what you said was just wrung
"Wrong".
[13:04] Axxxx Dxxxxx: good word
If you say so.
[13:05] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): If you want me to do your work *for* you again, tell me the country you're in, I can do five minutes of research and pull them up.
[13:05] Axxxx Dxxxxx: but wrong
[13:05] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you can not tell me where I am
[13:05] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): I don't care where you are. I'm trying to help.
[13:05] Axxxx Dxxxxx: you are full of hot air
[13:05] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): But you're free to reject that too.
[13:06] Axxxx Dxxxxx: I reject your hate and slander of Europe
[13:06] Axxxx Dxxxxx: bye now!
[13:06] Emilly Shatner-Orr (emilly.orr): Knock yourself out.
[13:06] Axxxx Dxxxxx: charming
Whatever. If you can't bother to read your own laws, I'm done trying to track them down for you. Void stars, you're annoying.
