finders keepers, losers weepers

Starting off with this little mention:
[14:39] Sxxx Pxxxxxxxxx: due to current happenings, many creators of SL came together and put together a fundraiser event

stand for justice - a fundraiser event in support of black lives, starting Jun 5th , 12pm

100% of the generated sales there will be donated to the charities Black Lives Matter, Black Visions Collective, Campaign Zero, the National Police Accountability Project, and a Split Bail Fund benefiting 38+ bail funds nationwide.

This is the event I was discussing earlier, in this entry. Apparently the sim for the event was open earlier than the event, but it's filling up rapidly now.

Somehow "Maitreya only" seems a greater restriction than the rest of this listing, but then a friend pointed out something I really should have noticed before:
3:04 PM] Exxxxxx: It's hilariously nonsense!
[3:04 PM] Exxxxxx: Since it's a head, and Maitreya is headless
Wait. What? But it's correct--it's a "Maitreya only", fetish mesh head designed specifically for...a body that doesn't come with a mesh head?!? Whaaat?

In the meantime, today's example of What Not to Do in Sales Groups:
[15:01] Jxxxxxxx Pxxxx: just a heads up the texturing on the [Gxxxxxxxxxxx] curvillicious is real bad save ur money
It's "your", and meet our problem child for today, Ms. J. I don't know if 'curvillicious' is a body to which she's referring, or the name of the outfit, but if it is by chance a mesh body, it should be noted that some mesh body makes are very chary about who they give their dev kits to. Which is why to this day, you still see so many "Maitreya Experimental" labels on attire on the grid--because Maitreya hamstrings a lot of development by only allowing certain designers to have the full rigging kit.
[15:01] Txxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: sad face
[15:01] Cxxxxx Dxxxxx: [Jxxxx] thats not what the group is for
[15:02] Cxxxxx Dxxxxx: if you have a problem with a product, please let the creator know.. not us
[15:02] Jxxxxxxx Pxxxx: well id like to be told before i wasted my money
[15:02] Cxxxxx Dxxxxx: THEN DEMO
[15:02] Jxxxxxxx Pxxxx: there wasnt one
[15:02] Emilly Orr: Which is again, an issue you should (politely) take up with the creator.
Precisely--if you're unsure about buying something, and there's no demo, then you either buy it sight unseen or you walk past it. Sometimes, dropping a notecard to the designer does the trick, and they'll send along a demo. Sometimes there are no demos--Meli Imako's a stunning example of this: for years now, the design team behind that brand apparently has a phobia-level fear of handing out demos, regardless of the clear fact they'd increase sales--and you just have to do your best.
[15:02] Cxxxxx Dxxxxx: then tis your fault.. not ours.. you take the chance
[15:02] Mxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fxxx: no Demo No Buy
[15:03] Sxxxxxxx Hxxxxxxx: You never know, it could be an error on that particular size...you should really let the merchant you purchased from know
[15:03] Jxxxxxxx Pxxxx: so i let others waste there money hmm great group
That's not what anyone is saying here.

So...I pulled Ms. J's profile. Gosh, she has a store. SHE SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO BASH OTHER CREATORS. Some peoples' kids...
[15:03] Cxxxxx Dxxxxx: sighs
[15:03] Emilly Orr: Noooo, listen to what we're saying. Contact the maker (politely). If you really need to bring it up here, ask if anyone else has had a similar problem.
[15:03] Emilly Orr: Don't charge in saying it's a scam and bashing a vendor.
[15:05] Txxxxxxx Rxxxxxxx: personally I like [Gxxxxxxxxxxx] and they usually DO have demo as well
[15:06] Emilly Orr: I will freely admit, I usually don't hit [Gxxxxxxxxxxx] on the sales, but that's because I'm mostly looking for formal or medieval these days. Still, it could just be a glitch in that size, there could be a problem the creator doesn't know about, maybe they intended to put out a demo and forgot...a whole host of possible reasons.
[15:09] Sxxxxxxx Hxxxxxxx: Indeed Emilly :)
[15:10] Sxxxxxxx Hxxxxxxx: And it's only fair to let the merchant or creator know that there is a problem. Being a creator myself, I prefer it when my customers let me know of errors that slipped by me - We're all just humans after all. :)
And that especially is doubled when the twidget complaining is also a designer on the grid.

I know the temptation is high to rant and rave when we end up wasting currency in any world. I get it. But at least in terms of the customer service industry, nearly always it's better to approach an issue with courtesy, because nine times out of ten, the designer either didn't know, or there was a glitch (something that happened with a recent Cog and Fleur purchase, as it happened--I bought their beyond lovely Black and Gold gown set at We heart-balloon RP, and something in that day's sales for several people glitched, and we didn't end up getting the item. I sent a polite card with my transaction history, and thanked her for any help she could provide, and et voila, the next day she sent the gown box. Easy, stress-free, simple.

Would that Ms. J had gotten that memo before storming and laying about with accusations.
