this town is crazy; nobody cares

Dear Emilly Orr,

We hope you're enjoying your Second Life.

Well, off and on. This week it's mostly been off.

This is a reminder that your Second Life Premium Quarterly Plan will be renewed on February 22, 2009, at which time you'll be charged $22.50(USD).

Wait, what?

You don't need to do anything; renewal and billing are automatic.

Let's go back to the fact that I don't have a premium account. Oh, and that it's 2011. What?

As a Premium Quarterly Plan participant,

--which I'm not--

you're eligible to extend your Membership to an Premium Annual Plan at a special rate of just $6.00 per month or $72 billed annually.

That's awfully nice of you. Why is this just coming to my inbox now? Because let me tell you, 2009? Two whole years ago.

To review or modify your account details, or to change or cancel your
Membership Plan, visit https://secondlife.com/account.

Right, which I check off and on, have checked off and on since 2009. By the way, you've never mentioned you're billing me for anything, since I stopped being a Premium acccount-holder. So I'm back to "Wait, what?"

If you've forgotten your password, you can go to https://secondlife.com/account/request.php to start the password recovery process. As part of the process, an email with a time sensitive link will be sent to the email address you registered with.

Right, knew that...still confused.

Best Wishes,

And to you as well, and my best hopes that you'll go into rehab soon,

Uh... are you sure it's not some weird phishing type thing? Otherwise, that is quite. Odd.

Definitely worth a call to the Lab, and a check of your bank account.

They're "recoding" account data processing. I received one this morning also, stating they would be taking payment in February 2011...

There's been a fair amount of discussion about it in the usual channels for the last few hours...

From later conversations with people, apparently many who were Premium members, received this. The date? Whenever each of us dropped out of the Premium program.

May be a phishing email thing? I dunno those happen here and there. But if other people are getting it, sounds like a uber glitch in the SL system - Surprise surprise.

Strictly in my case it was my last bill date rather than cancellation date - I'm a Premie because I still hold a 512m mainland plot as an extension of a satellite store... Either way, I've just received a "disregard" Email...

And that's the subject of the next entry, because in my case (and others), it was the date I left off being a Premium member, which seems to concur with other resident reports.

hide away, they say, 'cos we don't want your broken parts

Yeah, so...remember that thing I was recovering from? You know, last year ? Yeah. I did it again. So this is Em Faw Down Go Boom part ...
